Rival Factions Do Battle in Sanaa

Death and injuries resulted from clashes between anti-government and loyal forces.

Five soldiers died and ten others were wounded in confrontations between members of the police forces and soldiers of the first armored division split from the army and joined the change square to protect the protestors.

Military sources reported that an army officer and four other soldiers were killed in a clash in Amran roundabout north of Sana’a on Wednesday April 14th, 2011

Theses clashes occurred when forces affiliated to Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar who were in a check point and got attacked by police security loyal to the regime.

The resulting gun battle continued for two hours, according to eye witnesses.
