Workshop for Youth in Child Rights Convention and Child Participation

Sana’a , 11th May – Save the Children, in cooperation with the Democracy School and the Youth General Union, is supporting the establishment of a Child Right Advocators Network. One of the steps toward this is a training workshop on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Child right Based Programming  that was concluded today 11 May in Sana’a.

The training aims to engage and strengthen youth and youth organizations participation in their communities and build the participants capacity to work as community mobilizes for children’s rights in their communities. The particular focus is on the rights of girls.

For three days, 25 young girls from the girls sectors in the General Youth Union from eleven governorates participated in the training. (Sana’a city, Sana’a Governorate, Amran,  Alhodaieda,  Hajah,  Sa’ada, Mareb,  Ibb,  Dhamar , Albaitha and Almahwit Aljawf ).

In addition to the establishment of a Child Right Advocators Network, the participants also developed plans to conduct child right awareness sessions on their communities

Save the Children works with its partners towards the fulfillment and respect for all young people’s right to participation in decisions. We wants to  empower youth by building their capacity and by raising their awareness on  different issues related to themselves and their communities.
