An official source in Al-Islah party in Aden governorate stated that the strong turnouts at the election emphasized the great sense of responsibility and awareness people of Aden have.

The source added that people of Aden proved their ability to overcome the armed groups that tried to terrorize people and stop them from voting in the elections.

In addition, the source said that they felt sorry for the irresponsible attitude of some security forces who allowed actions of violence at the election halls. The responsible of foreign policies for the EU, Catherin Ashton, stressed the fact that violence in the south will not affect the transmission stage and those responsible will be prosecuted.

“The permanent change requires the future president and the new government to keep responding to the demands of the Yemeni people,” Ashton added.
