An adviser of the British National Security stated that the concern of the country’s national security is moving towards Yemen and Somalia. In his speech, Sir Kim Darroch said that danger in Afghanistan is not over yet, but was dramatically reduced and that danger in Yemen and Somalia is increasing.
“The power of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan decreased but risks of instability in Yemen and Somalia keep increasing,” he stated.
According to Sir Darroch, governments in Yemen and Somalia could not control Islamic armed groups belonging to Al-Qaeda. This, he said, posses more risks to Britain’s national security. He added that the revolution weakened the ability of the central government to fight the insurgency of Islamic groups.
