Following tribal mediation, kidnappers have released the Italian hostage Alessandro Spadotto. Sources have stated that he had been handed over to local authorities in Marib governorate.

“The tribal mediation was supported by Sultan Al-Arada, the governor of Marib, and a tribal leader,” said a source. According to the same source, the hostage was probably released in return for promises to meet his kidnappers’ demands.

Spadotto was kidnapped near the Italian embassy in the south of Sana’a.
