Though he was invited by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, diplomatic sources have ruled out the possibility of President Hadi attending the summit of non-aligned nations, to be held in Tehran next August.
Sources noted that Hadi had assigned the Foreign Affairs Minister to meet with the Iranian president’s special envoy, which visited Yemen last week. “Hadi did express enthusiasm about meeting Ahmadinejad’s envoy, which had previously stated that Iran supported Yemen’s stability.”
The envoy left Yemen last Tuesday, stating that the visit’s main aim was to deliver an invitation to President Hadi from his peer, the Iranian president to participate in the summit. The envoy added that the Islamic Iranian Republic always wishes for stability for the Yemeni people and stressed the importance of improving relations between the two countries.
