Students demand Sana’a University be cleared of military presence

Hundreds of student marched last week inside Sana’a University to condemn the presence of First Armored Division forces at the university campus. They also expressed condemnation of violent actions by soldiers who they say fired on students, causing some serious injuries, with one remaining in a hospital intensive care unit.

During the march, which took place on campus grounds, students called for the campus to be cleared of any military presence and for all military equipment and vehicles which make the university feel like a barracks to be removed. Students threatened to escalate their protest if their demands weren’t met.

Civil guards who had been brought to the university by the Islah Party were later replaced by First Armored Division soldiers.
