Yemeni activist Amal Al-Basha receives honor

Human and women’s rights activist Amal Al-Basha has been announced the winner of the GR8 Women Life Achievements Award for 2013.

Al-Basha, who holds an MA in International Development and Gender, is the Chairperson of the Arab Sisters’ Human Rights Forum.

During the Gulf War, Al-Basha was awarded the Golden Medal for Peace and in 1997 was recognized as the “Most Prominent Working Woman in Yemen”.

More recently, she was appointed the official Spokesperson of the National Dialogue Technical Committee.
