Saudi Arabia warns Yemen violence could pose threat to global security

Saudi Arabia has warned that “unprecedented challenges” facing Yemen could threaten international security, after Houthi rebels overran the capital last week and called for swift action to deal with instability in its southern neighbour.

During the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Sunday, Saudi’s Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, said plans to end the conflict in Yemen are being hampered by the Houthi’s lack of cooperation. He called for immediate implementation of a UN brokered peace deal.
