UAE Lists Houthis as Terrorist Movement

National Yemen

The United Arab Emirates has formally designated Yemen’s Houthi movement a terrorist group, state news agency WAM reported yesterday, citing a cabinet decree.

Houthi fighters are accused of threatening the country’s safety and stability. The UAE has designated the Muslim Brotherhood and local affiliates as terrorist groups as well.

It also designated the Nusra Front and the Islamic State, whose fighters are battling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as terrorist organizations along with the UAE’s own Al-Islah group, with alleged ties to Egypt’s Muslim Brother.
