Government of Japan Welcomes Yemen Peace Talk

The Foreign press secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura shares a press statement on
Yemen current Peace Talks in Kuwait.

Japan welcomes the beginning of the UN-facilitated Yemen peace talks on April 22nd (21st local time). Japan highly appreciates the mediation efforts made by Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Yemen, towards the realization of this talk as well as the stability of Yemen.

Japan strongly hopes that all parties will engage in the talks in good faith, while fully committing to the cessation of hostilities and the securing of accuses for humanitarian assistance, and produce concrete outcome in achieving progress of the peaceful political process towards the stability of Yemen.

In coordination with the international community, Japan will continue to support the mediation efforts by Mr. Ismail as well as the efforts towards peace by the parties concerned.

Japan will continue to actively work in responding to the serious humanitarian situation in Yemen.
