Yemeni peace talks resumption discussed

Jeddah, Sep. 8 (BNA): Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani has discussed with UN Special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed recent developments of the situations in Yemen.

The two sides addressed ways to boost the international community’s efforts to push forward the political process in Yemen in accordance with the GCC initiative, outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue, and UNSC resolution 2216, GCC Secretariat General said in a statement on Wednesday.

The UN envoy informed Al-Zayani on results of the number of talks he held previously with relevant parties that focused on resuming the political consultations to reach a political solution that ends the ongoing conflict in Yemen in accordance with legitimate international standards.

Al-Zayani commended Ahmed’s efforts, reiterating GCC countries’ support of his attempts and efforts to resume peaceful negotiations between warring Yemeni parties, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
