President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Tuesday praised Turkey’s support for the legitimate government in Yemen, the official SABA news agency reported.
The report followed a meeting in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh between Hadi and Turkey’s ambassador to Yemen, Levent Eler.
“Distinctive relations between the two countries were discussed in the meeting, along with important issues related to the interests of the both sides,” the agency said. “Hadi praised Turkey’s positive position in supporting the Yemeni people and legitimacy in Yemen in the face of pro-coup forces.”
Yemen has been racked by chaos since late 2014, when the Houthi rebels and their allies overran the capital Sanaa and other parts of the country, forcing Hadi and his Saudi-backed government to flee.
