Yemen’s Public Electricity Corporation (PEC) has announced a project financing for the construction and development of phase II Marib gas power plant to be located in Marib.
The financing for the project will be provided by Saudi Fund For Development, Arab Fund For Economic And Social Development and the two governments of Oman and Yemen.
The total project cost is estimated to be US$434.6 million and will have a total installed capacity between 380 MW and 480 MW.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received the project from PEC in a bid. BHEL will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of the project.
“The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) was among seven international companies, including Korean and Saudi companies, competed for the bid. A final contract would be signed with the BHEL next February and the implementation will begin in the spring of this year”, Yahya Salam, director general of the projects unit in the station, said.
