Former President of the JMP Mohammed Abdulmalik Al-Mutawakel accused JMP for trying to assassinate him. He attributed this attempt to the national issues he proposed in one of the meetings held by the JMP.

“I cannot say that it was an accident, rather it was a planned assassination because of my discussions with the JMP regarding the militarization of the military,” he said.

According to him, he enraged the members of JMP after bringing up the topic of forming a committee to review the restructuring of the military.

Because of this, he stressed the importance of establishing different political powers to balance the situation.

According to him, main reason behind the attempt of assassination was his call for dialogue with youth and southern movement. “I wanted to create a strong and active affiliation that understands and accept the other views and opinions,” he stated.

In regard of restructuring the army, Al-Mutawakel stated that they had a meeting with some concerned officials who said that the process of restructuring the army must start. “I told them there should be principles and mutual committee for this to happen and can only be achieved through national dialogue,” he stated. According to him, those who refuse to have the national dialogue before Saleh’s relatives leave power want to rule the country after Saleh’s leaving.

Al-Mutawakel stressed the importance of creating a framework for the country to move forward and the a transparent process of restructuring the army so those with agendas can be marginalized.

  • Dear Ms. Al Mutawakel,

Hello, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Bill Thornton from London. I am assisting a government agency, which I can not name for privacy reasons, in the case of several woman, who have claimed to be part of the Al-Mutawakel and Al-Amoudi families from Yemen. These women have also claimed to be part of the Al-Amoudi and royalty in Saudi Arabia. According to the London newspaper article from Friday, 10 January, 2014, it appears these women are from Ethiopia and fraudulently obtained their Yemen documents at the Aden passport office over a decade ago. I have attached the link to said article.

As you can see, two of the alleged sisters carry the Al-Mutawakel name, Maha and Samera. While I don't have Maha's Yemen passport, which was issued in 2002, we know her birth date on said passport is 9 of March 1977, which is not her real birth date. I have attached Samera's 1999 Yemen passport from Aden, in which her identity was sworn by two unknown (probably fake) men from the eastern Shabwa province.

I have attached emails from Mohammed Albasha, a senior official at the Yemen Embassy in Washington, where you also worked, which confirms Samera is a fraud. In another email from Mr. Albasha, he say's the same about Sara Al Amoudi.

I have also attached a signed letter from Mohammed Yahya Al-Mutawakel, a senior member of your family, which states that Samera is a fraud.

Our evidence appears to point to an Ethiopian man named Abdullahi Idris (Ibriham) as the real father of these women.

In addition, I have attached the passport copy Mohammed Qasem Al-Mutawakel. We believe he is responsible for all of these fraudulent passports. He is officially as Samera's father and Maha's brother, which appears not to be true. There is some question as to whether he is even an Al-Mutawakel himself, as his 12 January, 2002 Yemen passport was also issued in Aden. Strange, since he's from Sana'a and it has a perfectly fine passport office. I have also attached an email from the Royal Malaysia Police, where Mohammed Qasem and Samera appeared to have some trouble.

You will note that I am copying Mr. Albasha, as well as the Yemen Times, the Dubai Police (where Maha and Samera currently reside), Saeed Al-Batati of the Gulf News and the FBI in Houston, Texas, where another alleged sister, Suaad Ali Al-Farawi Houck currently resides.
