Jewish Activist Attacks Obama’s Advisor Condemning Drone Strikes in Yemen and other Countries
During a speech by Obama counter-terrorism advisor John Brennan, well-known Jewish activist Medea Benjamin called into question “the effectiveness and ethics of the U.S. strategy to combat terrorism.”
Benjamin demanded an apology for the victims of attacks by U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, prompting security officers to remove her by force to the hall outside.
She said, “I am speaking on behalf of the Constitution. On behalf of the rule of law. I like the rule of law and love my country. You are exposed – to risk our lives through the killing of innocent people around the world. Shame on you.”
Benjamin was a Senate candidate for the Green Party in 2000, and co-founded the anti-war group Code Pink: Women for Peace and Global Exchange, an organization intended to offer alternatives to what she called “corporate globalization.”
