Turkish Airlines is set to launch its first direct flight from Aden Airport to Istanbul Airport next Thursday. The route will begin with three flights a week, with an increase to four by the end of October. The General Manager for Turkish Airlines stated that the launch of this line is a product of the good relations which exist between Yemeni and Turkish people. “It aims to expand trade and economic and touristic cooperation between the two countries,” he added.

He noted that the launch of this line between Istanbul and Turkey can be attributed to the economic and political position of the governorate. “Turkey also wants to be an effective partner in reactivating the governorate’s touristic and investment position,” he stated.  He also noted that Turkish Airlines continued operating in Yemen during the crisis Yemen witnessed last week. He also praised the facilities presented by the Yemeni government.

He finally stressed the importance of engagement and coordination between airlines in the two countries in a way that mutually serves the interests of Yemen and Turkey.

  • I hope to see more chartered flights to Aden as the years roll along. Hopefully, they will extend more partnerships with Asian and Middle East airlines to promote tourism even more.
