ICRC to raise budget in Yemen to $35 million

The budget of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Yemen in 2013 will be the highest among the Committee’s approved budgets worldwide, head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen said Saturday.

During his meeting with Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, Eric Marclay said that the head office of the ICRC agreed to raise the ICRC budget in Yemen up to $35 million in 2013 to cover the aids to the fields of health, medicines, water networks and professionals assistance.

Marclay also briefed the Minister on the ICRC’s activities and its humanitarian aid it provides in many areas in the country.

Ahmed valued highly the Committee’s efforts, stressing that the government would provide all support required to succeed the ICRC activities and its access to all needed areas in the country.

On the other hand, the Defense Minister held another meeting with Italian ambassador to Yemen Luciano Galli, where they discussed the possible means to enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries’ armies.

Galli voiced his country’s will to widen its relations with Yemen, stressing Italy’s readiness to offer all aid Yemen needs in all areas.
