The Interior Ministry has reported that it discovered Al-Qaeda plans to target Yemeni banks and seize deposited money to finance their operations.
The ministry added that it had reinforced security measures for banks in all governorates.
According to security sources, last month, armed gunmen from the terrorist organization stormed the Hodeida branch of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank (ACB) and stole YR 100 million. A soldier, an employee and a customer were all killed in the robbery.
Security forces have managed to foil past armed robbery attempts at ACB branches in Aden and Taiz.
