A report released by the Interior Ministry recorded more than 254 suicides in Yemen in 2011, including 63 foreigners.
The suicides were committed in 19 provinces around the country. Sana’a topped the list with 36 cases. Taiz followed closely behind, with 34 documented cases of suicide. Other cities ranking highly on the list include Hodeida, 22; Ibb, 16; Saada 13; and Aden, with 10 reported cases.
114 suicides were committed in the morning, 69 in the afternoon, and 55 in the evening.
January witnessed the most suicides with 30 cases.
