In its weekly meeting, the Council of Ministers chaired by Mohammed Salem Basindwa approved a bill extending legal protection to employees under article 13 of the law.

The law, which currently covers security forces, punishes those who threaten or assault an officer with 3 years imprisonment. The punishment is doubled if an officer suffers serious injuries as a result of the attack.

The law also punishes anyone who impersonates an officer or wears a police or military uniform with 2 years in prison or a fine not less than YR 100,000.
