This past week, permanent representative to the United Nations Ali Mohammed Mujawar appealed to potential international donors to help Yemen overcome its present difficulties.
The appeal came in a statement delivered by Mujawar during a meeting with representatives of international organizations and prospective donors.
Mujawar implored those present at the meeting to support efforts which he said would reduce the level of suffering of the Yemeni people.
For his part, Ismael Al-Sheikh, permanent resident representative to UNDP in Sana’a, spoke about Yemen’s current humanitarian situation. He went on to review a humanitarian response plan for Yemen and outline the amount of financial support it required.
Associations and organization affiliated with the UN have requested humanitarian assistance to the tune of $716 million, food and clean water to be procured, and for medical needs to be attended to.
