This past week, Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi stated that Yemen would not be able to handle further conflicts. He added that conflict was the cause of the current state of crisis Yemen is passing through.
Speaking about the planned National Dialogue Conference, Hadi said, “The GCC initiative didn’t clearly cover the southern issue or the problems in Sa’ada, but we are aware of these two problems and will focus on them as major issues in the National Dialogue.”
According to Hadi, the international community’s main wishes for Yemen are for the government to find moderate solutions to problems while also managing to be inclusive of all segments of society.
The President noted that such concerns were what caused the United Nations Security Council to hold a rare meeting in Yemen. He also said he believed Yemenis would have to help themselves before others could help them.
