Governor of Aden province, Whaeed Ali Rasheed, survived an assassination attempt Friday evening. Gunmen shot at Rasheed as he was leaving his home in Khour Maksar directorate. His driver was shot in the leg during the attack.
Security sources say the governor’s vehicle came under heavy fire. Rasheed was on his way to the airport, sources said.
“While the governor was not injured, his driver was hit with two bullets in the leg.”
The assassination attempt seemed carefully planned, a source close to Rasheed stated. The gunmen were able to escape the scene. Investigations are underway.
