Groups of Sana’a University Guard soldiers attacked the girls’ students housing and confiscated their telephones and cameras on Tuesday 9 July.
A student said that the soldiers attacked the students in order to reopen housing administration, which had been previously closed by the students.
“The students are protesting against the non-implementation of the decision to stop the work of the housing director, a decision which had been made by the head of the university,” she said.
The person responsible for student housing, Bushra Al-hamadi, used the Security Officers to investigate issues concerning the students protesting against her and her abuses.
It was not the first protest on this issue, but it was preceded by many vigils in front of the presidency of the university, who claimed to have arrested the housing director due to violations of the rights of students.
The students also protested the lack of water, electricity, gas and other deficiencies in student housing.
