According to reliable sources, Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi will attend a special session of the UN Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 27th. On the 25th of the same month, Hadi will attend a donors conference and a meeting with the “friends of Yemen” group.
Sources have told the media that Hadi has decided to lead the Yemeni delegation by himself since he was invited by the Security Council to attend a session focusing on the developments of the political process in Yemen.
Furthermore, sources say that Hadi will demonstrate said developments along with the a presentation on the work of the National Dialogue Conference. Hadi intends to show the council the challenge of achieving political settlement in the country as well as securing both the regional and international support needed to help Yemen to meet the second period requirements specified in its two-year plan.
These same sources have predicted that the donors conference and the friends meeting will both provide the government with crucial economic support through the establishment of a Yemen Support Fund, first proposed by UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nayan. This fund aims to secure economic support for Yemen from numerous countries and organizations.
