The Criminal Court has decreed today through judge Mohsen Hilal to imprison nine defendants for 2 – 10 years for trying to assassinate President Abd Rabbu Mansur Hadi.
According to the judgment, Rahman al-Dbibi, and Abdulrahman al-Sharabi will be setnenced to ten years, Nabil al-Lamani to five years. Jameel al-Dbibi, Mohammad Salman al-Jamee, and Alaa Eddin al-Idrissi to four years, Nasr Hasafah and Jameel Soufan to three years, and both Emad al-Maqtari to two years.
The prosecution accused the defendants of participation with an armed gang that is affiliated with al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The indictment said that six of the defendants placed an explosive device on the Main Line of Sixtieth Street, where President Hadi usually passes when he goes to the Presidential Palace,
On last 12th of May, the website of 26 September that belongs to Defense Ministry mentioned that security forces dismantled an explosive device found near a bridge downtown. The device contained seven kilograms of explosive material with a timing device.
One of the defendants remains tree, while another was released due to insufficient evidence. Judge Hilal Hamid postponed the trial until November 24.
