Nutrition is necessary for life since it maintains our health. Food is the fuel that moves body. For proper nutrition, a variety of vitamins and minerals must be covered by the food we eat. This is to guard against health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, brain hemorrhage, osteoporosis, and some types of cancers. It is crucial to instill good habits when children are young, since it becomes difficult when they grow older.
Green foods are important, such as spinach, avocado, and the stems of vegetables. They also contain anti-oxidants which fight cancer and help digestion. White foods such as garlic and onions strengthen the immune system and lower cholesterol. Orange foods strengthen vision and the immune system, and include carrots, apricots, and mangoes. They do this because they contain a high content of beta-carotene, and play an essential role in preventing the formation of free radicals that are dangerous to human health.
Red foods such as tomatoes, red grapefruit, cherries, and watermelons are also important. They contain lycopene, which protects against breast and cervical cancer. It is crucial for women to eat reds as they get older, especially if there is a history of these cancers in their family.
Purple is a little strange. Its distinctive color indicates substances that protect against heart disease, such as in nectarines and papaya. Flavonoid helps in the formation of non-harmful cholesterol, and should be a part of any healthy diet.
It is important for readers to consult their doctors when it comes to pursuing any diet, however, remembering colors can help to promote good health at the marketplace.
