Sana’a Mayor Abdukader Hilal announced that the army will hand over the location of 21 March Park, the former site of the so-called First Armored Division, to civilian control next week.
In a press release held on Sunday, Hilal said that the exact date came under the directive of President Abdu Rabbo Mansour Hadi, with the cooperation of Major General Mohammed Nasser Ahmed, Minister of Defense, and Major General Mohammed Ali Al-Magdashi of the Sixth Command, state media agency Saba reported.
Hilal saoid that eight consulting companies have been picked from twenty-two applicants to study the park and find the best possible use for it, taking into account environmental and economic concerns. The park is approximately two hundred thousand square kilomers, and is considered to be the second largest park in the Middle East with two hundred thousand square meters.
Proposed developments include electronic games, children’s parks, zoos, artificial lakes, cinemas, theaters, and museums.
