On the occasion of International Children’s Book Day, on 2nd of April, British Ambassador Jane Marriott gathered a number of children from different public and private schools and read to them from her home.
Ambassador Marriott told them about the importance of reading and narrated the story of Ali Baba. Afterwards, she gave them each a story to read.
Ambassador Marriott said that this is an important day because it highlights education and child development. She added that reading has a positive power for both children and young people, and helps them make a life for themselves, their families, and their homelands.
International Children’s Book Day is a yearly event sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People. It includes writing competitions, book awards, and various events with authors of children’s literature.
