The meeting was organized by the General Authority for Developing Tehama, and aimed at facilitating future cooperation between Turkey and Yemen through modern irrigation, greenhouses, marketing, and various other agricultural techniques.On March 19th, the first consultative meeting in Turkish-Yemeni agriculture began in Hodeidah with the participation of seventy people from different governorates, along with the Turkish agricultural delegation.
Secretary-General of the Local Council in Hodeidah Hassan Ahmad Alheij emphasized the importance of Yemeni-Turkish cooperation in agricultural efforts, and Manager Abdulsalam al-Taieb of the GADT says that Yemen is poised to take advantage of its fertile conditions, despite the weak economy and high diesel prices.
Turkish observers agreed, and pointed out that Turkey needs to take more interest in the agricultural state of modern Yemen.
Participants from both countries will show each other a number of working papers about agriculture, crops, production, and everything else related to it.
Agriculture employs many residents in Hodeidah, and vegetable and fruit production is the main activity of its population.
