The JICA office in Jordan concludes specialized training course, Within the framework of technical cooperation between the Government of Japan to Yemen. The course was concluded last week at the Agriculture Research Station in Jordan on “Quality Control for Irrigation Structures” which was held during the period January 17-28,2015. The Training was organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation of Yemen and Faculty of Agriculture and the Agriculture Research Station of the University of Jordan.
In 11 days, the 15 Yemeni engineers represent the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Yemen received practical training on modern technical methods and technologies related to the improvement of the efficiency of irrigation structures including dams with the objective to improve the participants’ capacities to improve irrigation efficiency and reduce groundwater depletion in Yemen utilizing Jordanian expertise in this area.
So far, JICA trained 228 Yemenis in the Japanese Fiscal Year 2013 in Japan, Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia to receive training in the fields of water, health, electricity, vocational training, fisheries, maritime security, election system, agriculture, irrigation, export and other fields of priority in Yemen with the objective to improve the capacities of Yemeni cadres for addressing the various development issues.
