Bahram Ghasemi, Iran’s Foreign Minister Spokesman, rejected the news published in some media outlets that Iran has received a letter from the United States in regard to Yemen crisis, adding “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received no letter whatsoever for engaging in talks with third parties over the crisis in Yemen. This claim is completely baseless.”
Some news outlets claimed that the Americans have sent a letter to the Iranian embassy in the Omani capital of Muscat through the Omani officials, demanding dialogue with Tehran over Yemen.
In another development, Iran’s UN mission has categorically rejected Saudi allegations that Iran has been arming Yemeni forces, and stressed that the Islamic Republic always pursues a political solution to the Yemeni conflict. The statement added that “it is surprising that Saudi Arabia would complain to the United Nations about the use of weapons in Yemen even while Saudi Arabia itself has purchased tens of billions of dollars in arms that it is using against the Yemeni people.”
