After Saleh was forced to step down in 2012, the presidency was transferred to Vice President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Hadi was formally elected president in February 2012 in a one-man election. Soon after, Houthis, a Shia Islamist group, staged a coup d’état. Yemen has been in a civil war since between government forces and rebels since. Viewer discretion is advised.
