Barely a month after he was shown the door by Kagame Cup champions Yanga, Tom Saintfiet has landed a new job as the Yemen national team coach.
The Belgian was axed following a poor start to the Vodacom Premier League despite propelling them to the regional title.
Saintfiet, a former Ethiopia tactician will start work on Saturday and will lead his new team against Lebanon in a friendly match scheduled for 16th October.
“It’s true I’m the Yemen National team coach. I’m happy and delighted with this new task because it shows I have the potential.”
“I hope to achieve something and lift the level of Yemen football. It won’t be easy but I proved in the past that this suits me,” said Saintfiet.
In their recent encounter, the team lost 4-0 to Morocco in the Arab Nations Cup and the Belgian will be tasked to turn their fortunes around. Yemen are 157th on Fifa rankings.
